CONNECT BATTERY ( See Figs . 2 and 3 ) CAUTION : Do not short battery termi - SEAT nals . Before connecting battery , re - PAN move metal bracelets , wristwatch bands , rings , etc . Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparking from acciden - tal grounding . BATTERY o Remove cardboard packing from seat pan and lift seat BOX DOOR pan to raised position . o Open batter ' : / box door ' . , o Remove terminal protective caps and discard . o If this battery is put into service after month and year indicated on label ( label located between terminals ) charge battery for minimum of one hour at 6 - 10 arnps . o First connect RED batiery cable to positive ( + ) terminal with hex bolt , flat washer , lock washer ' and hex nut as shown ° Tighten securely . Adjust seat before tightening adjustment bolt . ° Close battery box door . o Remove cardboard packing on seat pan . , ° Place seat on seat pan and assemble shoulder bolt . Open battery box door for : ° Assemble adjustment bolt , lock washer and flat washer - inspection for secure connections ( to tighten hard - loosely . Do not tighten . ware ) . . ° Tighten shoulder bolt securely _ = Inspection for corrosion ° o Lower ' seat into operating position and sit on seat . o Testing battery ° o Slide seat until a comfortable position is reached which allows you to press clutch / brake pedal all the way ° Jumping ( if required ) _ down _ ° Periodic charging o • Get off seat without moving its adjusted position . OPERATIO The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes , which can result in severe eye damage . Always wear safety glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments or repairs . We recommend a wide vision safety mask over the spectacles or standard safety glasses . o Turn ignition key to " OFF " position and remove key . HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR Always remove key when leaving tractor to prevent unauthorized use . TO SET PARKING BRAKE ( See Fig . 9 ) o Never use choke to stop engine . . Your tractor is equipped with an ope rator presence sensing NOTE : Under certain conditions when tractor is standing switch . , When engine is running , any attempt by the idle with the engine running , hot engine exhaust gases may operator to leave the seat without first setting the parking cause " browning " of grass . To eliminate this possibility , brake wilt shut off the engine . always stop engine when stopping tractor on grass areas . • Depress clutch / brake pedal into full " BRAKE " position and hold . CAUTION : Always stop tractor com - o Place parking brake lever in " ENGAGED " position and pletely , as described above , before leav - release pressure from clutch / brake pedal .
